Marriage License Requirements

Both partners must be 18 years or older, be present and have valid picture identification
Need to know parents full birth names, including mother’s maiden name and state or country of birth
Date of dissolution of most recent previous marriage; if divorce within 90 days, you must bring divorce papers
No blood test are required
You do not have to be a California resident to marry in California
There is no waiting period between receipt of a marriage license and the ceremony
Minors, emancipated minors included, cannot be licensed to marry in California without a parent's written consent and a Superior Court Order
Tahoe Chapel of the Bells will issue a marriage license if all above requirements are met

Domestic Partner Registry Requirements

Both partners must be 18 years or older and be present
Valid picture identification of couple
Both persons are members of the same sex, OR one or both of the persons of opposite sex are over the age of 62 years old, then you may be eligible to register a domestic partnership with the Secretary of State
No blood test are required
There is no waiting period between receipt of Declaration of Domestic Partnership and the ceremony
Neither person is married to someone else or is a member of another domestic partnership with someone else that has not been terminated, dissolved, or adjudged a nullity
Both persons are not related by blood in a way
Tahoe Chapel of the Bells will issue and notorize the Declaration of Domestic Partnership if all above requirements are met
